CityDoc performs both the COVID-19 Antibody test and
COVID-19 nasopharyngeal virus detection test....
COVID-19 Nasopharyngeal Virus Detection Test.
If you have a fever and signs/symptoms of an upper respiratory illness, cough, or flu-like symptoms OR you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus, then CityDoc can provide you with a COVID-19 virus detection test. A Provider will evaluate you for testing. We will collect the nasopharyngeal specimen and forward it to an outside lab for testing. It takes 3-5 days to obtain results and sometimes quicker. Just walk-in as no appointment is needed.
Did you have symptoms consistent with possible Coronavirus infection 4 or more weeks ago and looking back think you might have had COVID-19? You might be a good candidate. A Provider will assess your situation and blood will be drawn and sent to an outside lab. Results are received within 3-5 days and sometimes quicker.
Antibodies are developed by the body in response to a viral infection. According to the FDA, COVID-19 antibody testing may indicate that the person has been exposed to the virus in the past. Please note that some studies are showing that antibodies in COVID-19 patients, especially those with mild symptoms, may be very short-lived; 30-60 days, then they become undetectable. Therefore:
- Antibody testing is not very useful in detecting ACUTE disease. Antibodies show up about 3-4 weeks after the infection starts.
- Antibody testing may not be useful in detecting disease that occurred more than 60 days ago.
- There is data suggesting that antibodies do not confer immunity, so the presence of antibodies may be brief and unhelpful in terms of preventing future infections.
Just walk-in to any CityDoc location to be tested.
