CityDoc announces it is performing COVID-19 Antibody testing
Dallas, TX – April 27, 2020 – CityDoc Urgent Care announced that it has begun to perform antibody testing for coronavirus (COVID-19) using blood samples. With the new service, CityDoc now provides access to COVID-19 antibody testing as well as the normal COVID-19 test using the nasopharyngeal swab to detect virus onset.
Why get the antibody test?
Antibodies developed by the body in response to a viral infection may provide potential immunity against future infection. According to the FDA, COVID-19 antibody testing may indicate that the person has been exposed to the virus and developed antibodies against it, which may mean that person has at least some immunity to the coronavirus. Antibody testing uses blood specimens and is sometimes referred to as serology testing. Please be aware that CityDoc collects the specimen and forwards it to an outside lab for testing. It takes 3-5 days to obtain results. All testing will be ordered at the Providers discretion. CityDoc has 4 convenient locations that are open every day with extended evening and weekend hours.
